3D Scanning & Reverse Engineering
We scan industrial components and deliver production-ready CAD models. Mobile — offshore, workshop or industrial site.
Why companies call us
Industrial operations depend on parts that often have no surviving documentation. When the original manufacturer disappears or drawings are lost, production grinds to a halt.
No digital model exists for a critical component — manual measurements are time-consuming and inaccurate.
The original manufacturer has gone out of business, making replacement parts impossible to source through normal channels.
New components must integrate with legacy equipment where no current documentation exists to guide the design.
A part must be fully documented before it can be reproduced or modified — but no technical drawings have been created.
Our methodology
A proven four-step workflow that turns any industrial component into an accurate, manufacturable CAD model.
We bring professional-grade 3D scanning equipment to your site — offshore, workshop or industrial facility. The component is captured with high geometric accuracy, regardless of complexity.
Raw scan data is cleaned, aligned and processed into a dense point cloud. Surface noise is filtered and geometry is prepared for CAD reconstruction.
Our engineers build a fully parametric CAD model from the scan data. Nominal geometry is restored, tolerances applied, and the model is verified against the point cloud.
You receive files in your required format — STEP, IGES, SOLIDWORKS, or other — ready to send directly to a manufacturer or machine shop.
What we scan
We work with industrial mechanical components of all kinds. If it exists physically, we can digitise it.
Typical part size: 5 mm – 4 m
Real-world scenarios
These are the most common situations where Formatrix is called in to solve the problem.
Who we are
Formatrix Technology AS provides mobile 3D scanning and reverse engineering services to industrial companies in Norway. We come to your facility — whether onshore or offshore — and deliver the digital models you need to keep operations running.
Our services help customers reproduce mechanical parts, document equipment, and prepare components for manufacturing — with no need for manual measurements or obsolete technical drawings.
We are based in Tananger, at the heart of Norway's energy and maritime industry cluster, giving us direct access to the customers and environments we serve.
