Why companies call us

Common industry challenges

Industrial operations depend on parts that often have no surviving documentation. When the original manufacturer disappears or drawings are lost, production grinds to a halt.

3D models missing

No digital model exists for a critical component — manual measurements are time-consuming and inaccurate.

OEM no longer exists

The original manufacturer has gone out of business, making replacement parts impossible to source through normal channels.

Retrofit on aging infrastructure

New components must integrate with legacy equipment where no current documentation exists to guide the design.

Documentation before manufacturing

A part must be fully documented before it can be reproduced or modified — but no technical drawings have been created.

Our methodology

From physical part to production file

A proven four-step workflow that turns any industrial component into an accurate, manufacturable CAD model.

01

Scan the component

We bring professional-grade 3D scanning equipment to your site — offshore, workshop or industrial facility. The component is captured with high geometric accuracy, regardless of complexity.

02

Point cloud processing

Raw scan data is cleaned, aligned and processed into a dense point cloud. Surface noise is filtered and geometry is prepared for CAD reconstruction.

03

CAD modeling

Our engineers build a fully parametric CAD model from the scan data. Nominal geometry is restored, tolerances applied, and the model is verified against the point cloud.

Production-ready files

You receive files in your required format — STEP, IGES, SOLIDWORKS, or other — ready to send directly to a manufacturer or machine shop.

Real-world scenarios

Use cases

These are the most common situations where Formatrix is called in to solve the problem.

Missing drawings
Problem: OEM no longer exists and no technical drawings are available for a critical part.
Solution: Scan → CAD model → New part manufactured
Damaged component
Problem: A part is damaged and must be reproduced exactly — but no drawings exist.
Solution: Scan damaged part → Rebuild geometry → New component delivered
Retrofit
Problem: Old equipment must accommodate new components but interfaces are undocumented.
Solution: Scan existing equipment → Design new mating parts to exact fit

Who we are

About Formatrix Technology
